Dr. Kallmayer shows echocardiographic images

Dec 30, 2010   |   by German Heart Centre   |   News  |  No Comments

Dr. Kallmayer shows how echocardiographic images of the heart are acquired during a normal out-patient clinic visit. As can well be appreciated, this is a quick and quite comfortable procedure yielding much information about the size and function of the heart chambers, the valves and the flow inside the heart. In the case shown here a valve does not close properly allowing some blood volume to flow backwards during the contraction of the heart.
Another scene shows how an exercise treadmill test is performed. This test is useful for detection of coronary artery disease and arrhythmias and also shows the blood pressure response to activity.
