Dr. Klaus T. Kallmayer MD, PhD, MA

Dr. Klaus T. Kallmayer studied medicine and history at the universities of Tuebingen/Germany, Innsbruck/Austria, London and Cambridge/United Kingdom. He was awarded the elite scholarship of the German National Scholarship Foundation and received his MA degree in history in 1978 and his MD degree in 1979 from Tuebingen University. In 1981 he was awarded a PhD degree by Tuebingen University for his thesis on Medical Ethics. He did his residencies in Internal Medicine at the German Military Hospital in Zwischenahn, Hamburg Eppendorf University Hospital and Bremen Central Hospital and qualified as Specialist in Internal Medicine in 1986. From 1985 until 1987 he was appointed Clinical and Research Fellow in Cardiology with Nobel Laureate Dr. Bernard Lown at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital of Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA, and qualified as Specialist in Cardiology in 1987. Upon his return to Germany he served as consultant and head of cardiology at Bremen Central Hospital. In 1989 he founded his own cardiology group, Dr. Kallmayer & Partners, at Paracelsus Klinik in Bremen with out- and in-patient, non-invasive and interventional services. In 2000 he completed a fellowship in Cardiac MRI with Professor Dudley Pennell at the Royal Brompton Hospital London. Under his leadership Dr. Kallmayer & Partners took over the interventional cardiology services of the Bremen State Heart Centre at Klinikum Links der Weser in 2002, the only state heart centre run by a private group in Germany. In 2006 Dr. Kallmayer founded German Heart Centre Bremen at Dubai Healthcare City, which he is still heading. Dr. Kallmayer is an associate and managing partner of both the Bremen and Dubai institutions.

Dr. Kallmayer has been elected Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), the European Society of Cardiology (FESC), the German Society of Cardiology (DGK), the Society for Coronary Angiography and Interventions (FSCAI), the Society of Coronary CT Angiography (SCCT) and Member of the Society for Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging

His main interests are medical ethics, conservative and interventional cardiology, cardiac MRI and CT angiography and the conservative management of arrhythmias.

Languages: German, English (native speaker), Italian, French (good working knowledge).
